Workplace cyberbullying has become a significant problem in digital workplaces, impacting employee engagement and well-being severely. The study combines qualitative and quantitative data to address this problem and obtain a richer information perspective. The interview results of employees from the qualitative research confirmed that cyberbullying is a widespread phenomenon in the digitalized work environment. Also, participants felt an extensive lack of support from their organizations in dealing with cyberbullying incidences and digitalization-related pressures. The quantitative study with 388 employees found statistically significant relationships between cyberbullying experiences and lower work engagement, as well as a negative impact on well-being. The moderating role of perceived organizational support between cyberbullying and employee engagement and well-being becomes insignificant in the digital work environment. This study’s results highlight the consequences of cyberbullying in digitalized work environments and pinpoint an organizational shift that still needs to be present. This study indicates the need for digital-media-specific anti-cyberbullying policies, accompanying awareness programs, as well as psychological support. Future studies might consider intervention programs customized for digitalized work environments and focus on how organizational support can moderate the consequences of cyberbullying among employees.

BackgroundThe advancement of technological devices in the workplace has changed the way people work. Employees are equipped with various Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools to enhance their productivity and ensure timely completion of tasks. However, ICT also exerts pressure on employees to acclimate to these tools and meet deadlines. This adverse phenomenon is referred to as technostress.ObjectiveThis study aims to examine the influence of technostress on employee engagement and well-being, as well as to analyze the moderating effect of perceived organizational support between employee engagement, well-being, and technostress.MethodsThis study utilizes a quantitative research design and applied the SmartPLS program to analyze the direct, indirect, and total impacts of independent variables on the dependent variables. The study was conducted on a sample of 388 employees working in private banking organizations across Telangana state in India.ResultsThe study’s findings indicate that technostress frequently entails an excessive workload and perpetual connectedness, resulting in considerable stress irrespective of organizational assistance. Elevated technostress in the workplace correlates with decreased employee engagement (−0.41) and well-being (−0.39). The research findings indicate that the role of perceived organizational support as a moderator is insignificant.ConclusionsThe findings of this study reveal substantial insights for firms to mitigate the adverse impacts of technostress on employees by developing evidence-based interventions, fostering a supportive work culture, and equipping employees with resource hubs.

Workplace cyberbullying has garnered significant attention, although the most focus has centred on its effects on work, related stressors, and consequences. Workplace cyberbullying has a detrimental impact on employees and undermines the effectiveness of information systems. It is crucial to review the existing body of work to understand the dynamics of cyberbullying in modern digital workplaces. The literature study has focused on synthesizing existing literature to define workplace cyberbullying accurately. It aims to uncover underlying theories and their implications on individuals affected by cyberbullying. The study examines the significance of researching workplace cyberbullying and how existing evidence informs our understanding. Lastly, it explores the critical role of Human Resource Development (HRD) in addressing and mitigating cyberbullying incidents, emphasizing their importance in this context. By conducting an integrated assessment of 52 empirical research works, this research can provide valuable insights into the frequency, causes, and consequences of cyberbullying, allowing organizations to establish policies and measures to protect their employees and promote a positive workplace culture. This review will enable the research community to grasp the concept of workplace cyberbullying and assess the current state of research in the field.

The growth of technostress research within organizational contexts has yielded significant theoretical and empirical knowledge. However, we observe inconsistencies in understanding the effects of technostress in various aspects, such as psychological impacts, physiological impacts, emotional dimension of technostress, the impact on work-life balance, and a comprehensive understanding of technostress. A systematic literature review on technostress was conducted to address these impacts, focusing on the term “Technostress" and applying PRISMA guidelines for transparency and methodological standardization. A total of 46 research articles published between 2007 and 2023 were analyzed based on the provisional coding method. The review uses the JD-R model to explore technology's psychological and physiological effects on employees, their emotions, and overall well-being. It also examines the complex relationship between technostress and employees' personal and professional lives. The analysis emphasizes the importance of interventions designed to address this issue. It provides strategic ways to reduce the adverse effects of technological stress on organizations' well-being and employees. Moreover, the analysis highlights the significant impact of technostress on people and organizations and suggests solutions that can minimize its effects. The study also identifies the current research trends in this area and offers insights into future directions for further research. Overall, this literature review provides valuable perspectives on the study of technostress and offers a constructive approach for future research.
