About Research Day

Research Day 2022 will be celebrated in SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh on February 19, 2022, at 02.00 pm. Dr Tessy Thomas, Distinguished Scientist and Director General of Aeronautical Systems at Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) will be the chief guest of the day. It is an excellent opportunity for all the faculty members, research scholars and students to exchange and exhibit their ideas on research. Research abstracts are invited on innovative topics from the faculty members, research scholars and undergraduate students of our University. Registration is free and all are invited to participate in the Research Day.

  • Gold and Silver Medals for Best Research Work
  • Special Issue of a journal is planned
  • Two student projects will be supported

Details of the Chief Guest

In her work spanning more than 32 years, Dr Tessy Thomas has contributed in various fields such as Guidance, Control, Inertial Navigation, Trajectory Simulation and Mission Design. She was leading a major project AGNI-4 as Project Director, for a state-of-art system with many new technologies for the first time and successfully flight tested and proven and was also Project Director (Mission) for the long-range AGNI-5 system and successfully flight tested and proven. As Director, Advanced Systems Laboratory, DRDO, she held multi-dimensional roles and responsibilities and lead the development of a strategic system. Presently, she is leading the Aeronautical Systems Cluster Laboratories as Director-General.

  • Duration of your presentation: 7minutes presentation + 3 minutes Q&A. PPT is the preferred mode of presentation
  • Do not prepare more than 10 Slides. This includes title slide to thank you.
  • Have a title slide: This slide should include title, authors (presenting author identified as *), and department affiliation.
  • Objective / Motivation slide: What are the objectives of this work that you're presenting? / for undergraduates, what motivated you to address this topic/problem?
  • Review of literature slide: What has been done so far by peer groups in scientific literature, and how is your work different from what has been done before?
  • Research / Idea: Explain your research with adequate methodologies, results or idea on how you will find a solution.
  • Conclusion: What is your key finding out of your research/idea? What are the ways this idea/ research could be carried forward? How do you plan to do it?
  • There will be three judges who will evaluate your work and presentation. Winners will be announced on the Research Day Event (February 19, 2022).
  • Classrooms for presentation in their respective thematic areas will be informed later.
